if you plan on going to Europe this summer...

think twice and if you already have reservations, see if they are completely refundable.

The Euro hit an all time high against the dollar today - $1.513.

This means that you are paying 50% more for anything purchased from Europe or in Europe. It is the dollar at its weakest.

Most countries use the dollar as the basis for trade with their currency. Within the last few months a number of these countries have been threatening to change that. Iran is one, but I wouldn't put too much in it.

Where I would put a lot of emphasis is China. China has been talking for a long time about doing this. Their economy is basically booming; a lot of products in the U.S. are produced in China; Tsar George has used China as a personal Payday Loan bank to fund his amusements in Iraq.

Of course, along with all of this we are bombarded daily with inflation, fast rising gas prices, threats of recession, home mortgages fiascos, bank and lender bailouts... The list is becoming endless.

Of course Mr. Bush has slashed taxes - for the rich - while touting that he is doing it for the middle class. He believes that giving a refund in May will stimulate the economy because people will spend the money on things. What he doesn't understand is those things will most likely be paying bills on what we owe, not on new products.

Clinton and Obama have each put out an economic stimulus package. Clinton's was first and a couple of weeks later, Obama's was announced. If you take a look at the two packages [and yes, I do look at these things] they are similar with one exception. Clinton indicates from where the money is to come and that the goal is a balanced budget as her husband did during his presidency. Obama does not say where the money is. There is also no mention of balancing the budget that I could find.

No matter what, we are in really deep s*** right now.

so, put off your trip to Europe or cancel it. spend money in the U.S. and, for heaven's sake save money for the future. this entire thing is quite spurious and deep.

it is difficult to get out of a deep hole when you keeping digging in a downward movement.
