no one is alone...

sung by Bernadette Peters
from "Into The Woods"
by Stephen Sondheim

No one here to guide you
Now you're on your own
Only me beside you
Still your not alone
No one is alone
Truley
No one is alone

Sometimes people leave you
Half-way through the wood
Others may decieve you
You decide whats good
You decide alone
But no one is alone

People make mistakes
Father's, Mother's
People make mistakes
Holding to their own
Thinking they're alone

Honor their mistakes
Everybody makes
One another's terrible mistakes

Witches can be right
Giants can be good
You decide whats right
You decide whats good
Just remember

Someone is on your side
Someone else is not
Well we're seeing our side
Maybe we forgot
They are not alone
Cause no one is alone

Hard to see the light now
Just don't let it go
Things will come out right now
We can make it so
Someone is on your side
No one is alone

be careful skydiving...

A Blonde is watching the news with her husband when the newscaster says "Two Brazilian men die in a skydiving accident."

The blonde starts crying to her husband, sobbing "That's horrible!!! So many men dying that way!"

Confused, he says, "Yes dear, it is sad, but they were skydiving, and there is always that risk involved."

After a few minutes, the blonde, still sobbing, says, "How many is a brazilian?"

with spring right around the corner...

it's time to start thinking about your garden. here are some questions about one choice from Allisonville Nursery in Indiana you could plant - not sure if plant is the right word to use though...

Do they bloom???

I wonder if they come in different colors?

I wonder about the fragrance?

I wonder if it would help to put those preservative packets in the water?

I wonder if they bloom?

I wonder whether they would look better on the kitchen table or in the entry?

I wonder if they're cheaper by the dozen?

I wonder if they come in long-stemmed?

I wonder if they bloom?

Penis blooms

any more questions?

unbelievable...

my mouth was WIDE OPEN when i first saw this...

in Malcolm Gladwell's new book, Outliers: The Story of Success, he shows that it takes a minimum of 10,000 hours of practice to be the best at anything. this kid is on the road to showing pool sharks a thing or two...

and i can't recommend Gladwell's book enough. it is making me challenge everything i've believed about education in my 37+ years in the profession - especially in Gifted Education.

no matter what...

is the first half of this blog's title. it's from an Andrew Lloyd Webber play, Whistle Down the Wind. it was made famous by the British group Boyzone.

they have a new video out that is something special. it's called "Better".

originally, they had planned to use their actual spouses in the video, but decided to use actors instead. great lyrics...

thanks for the heads up Andy. i've always enjoyed the group's music and am glad to here they are performing again.

herding...

found this over at BETTER PROJECTS. it reminds me of a lot of things - the war, the economy, the election, the government, etc, etc, etc...., but most of all it reminds me of where i used to work - in schools...

on my desk in my office, i had a miniature orange traffic cone that said,

Getting anyone to do anything around here is like trying to herd cats.

it's impossible to herd ONE cat let alone a... what do they call a group of cats? i know whales swim in a pod. hmmmmmm?

monday morning mayhem...

sometimes it's really important to know how to spell...

THE DEFINITION OF SERVICE...

I become confused when I hear these terms which reference the word ’service’.

· Internal Revenue ‘Service‘

· U.S. Postal ‘Service’

· Telephone ‘Service’

· Cable TV ‘Service‘

· Civil ‘Service’

· City & County Public ‘Service’

· Customer ‘Service’

This is not what I thought ’service’ meant. But today, I overheard two farmers talking, and one of them said he had hired a bull to ’service’ a few cows.

BAM!!! It all came into perspective.

I now understand what all those ’service’ agencies are doing to us.

I hope you are as enlightened as I am...

Indian lore

Two American Indians and an Irishman were walking through the woods. All of a sudden one of the Red Indians ran up a hill to the mouth of a small cave.

'Wooooo! Wooooo! Wooooo!' he called into the cave and listened closely until he heard an answering, 'Wooooo! Wooooo! Woooooo! He then tore off h is clothes and ran into the cave.

The Irishman was puzzled and asked the remaining Indian what it was all about,. 'Was the other Indian crazy or what?'

The Indian replied 'No, It is our custom during mating season when Indian men see cave, they holler 'Wooooo! Wooooo! Wooooo!' into the opening. If they get an answer back, it means there's a beautiful squaw in there waiting for us.

Just then they came upon another cave. The second Indian ran up to the cave, stopped, and hollered, 'Wooooo! Wooooo! Wooooo!' Immediately, there was the answer. 'Wooooo! Wooooo! Wooooo!' from deep inside.

He also tore off his clothes and ran into the opening.

The Irishman wandered around in the woods alone for a while, and then spied a third large cave. As he looked in amazement at the size of the huge opening, he was thinking, 'Hoo, man! Look at the size of this cave! It is bigger than those the Indians found. There must be some really big, fine women in this cave!'

He stood in front of the opening and hollered with all his might 'Wooooo! Wooooo! Wooooo!' Like the others, he then heard an answering call, 'WOOOOOOOOO, WOOOOOOOOO WOOOOOOOOO!' With a gleam in his eye and a smile on his face, he raced into the cave, tearing off his clothes as he ran.

The following day, the headline of the local newspaper read...............

NAKED IRISHMAN RUN OVER BY TRAIN...

59 days until the election. just this thought can make your week go better...

21 July 2008

after the previous post...

i couldn't pass this one up...

everything is so much clearer now...

i think i understand...

wait!

that's scary...

not much has really changed...

when it comes to the new FISA bill. check this out from 1970 -

see, that little black FBI book still works...

should we be more concerned about the bushies knowing more about us?

just asking...

i just remembered something. there was a piece in the news about Cher getting married again last week. CHER REP LAUGHS OFF RUMORS OF SECRET VEGAS WEDDING.

what more proof do we need that nothing has really changed?

08 July 2008

i dare you...

to NOT smile at some point while watching the newest "Where the hell is Matt (2008)" video:

Even today's New York Times has an article about the phenomenon of the newest video - A Private Dance? Four Million Web Fans Say No. It has been viewed over 4,000,000 times in just three weeks. The original has over 10,000,000 hits!

when hope is gone, life is over goes the Hopi Native American adage.

there is still hope...

03 July 2008

unbelievable...

doesn't help all those conspiracy theorists who say a rocket, not a plane, hit the Pentagon in 2001...

i've always found conspiracy theories a bit daunting.

first, i don't think everyone can keep there mouth's closed if they're part of a conspiracy. second, i don't believe that there is a group of people smart enough to pull off some of the wild, intricate conspiracies we've read about over the years. people are just not that careful by nature.

"oh, yeah?" you might ask. "what about 9/11? those guys pulled it off."

in hindsight from the investigations, there were lots of signs that they weren't that bright. of course, there were also a lot of signs that neither was our government for not seeing the signs or heeding the warnings of a few people who pointed out those signs, or to the Clinton administration who said, "this is going to happen. be careful."

duh... proves my original point...

and reminds me of a joke...

A Japanese doctor said, "Medicine in my country is so advanced that we can take a kidney out of one man, put it in another, and have him looking for work in six weeks."

A German doctor said, "That's nothing, we can take a lung out of one person, put it in another, and have him looking for work in four weeks."

A British doctor said, "In my country, medicine is so advanced that we can take half of a heart out of one person, put it in another, and have them both looking for work in two weeks."

A Texas doctor, not to be outdone said, "You guys are way behind. We took a man with no brains out of Texas, put him in the White House and now half the country is looking for work."

weekender (bonus)...

if you hae been reading for awhile you have to realize that i do have a kinda strange sense of humor. just the regular weekender about birthing lizards this week is a little hint.

well, here is a bonus for this week that i was reminded of in reading something about Graham Chapman and Monty Python's Flying Circus. it is my all time favorite bit from the show and totally ill...

14 June 2008

just havin' some fun...

fun... that's what this is. lots of fun...

a good friend sent me this. the video is from the Milwaukee Pride Event held last Sunday. Jim also happens to be in it. he and his dance partner won the Gold Medal at the Gay Games VII [the LGBTQ equivalent of the Olympics] when it was held in Chicago in 2006.

i guess i could also use the old cliche, "girls just wanna have fun", but i won't. oops... i just did!

thanks, Jim!

though i'm not a big fan of C&W, i really like the song - LeAnn Rimes' Nothing Better To Do
