i'm also wondering if this is not a reaction to the election results of November 4, 2008. subliminal or otherwise...
and, of course, the christianists will scream that people are trying to stop their right of free speech and freedom of religion as an excuse when this makes the news and shows up on more and more websites. when did they become the victims?
one friend's reaction when i emailed him was: I won't have to work all day stringing lights in the front of my house. One cross will do.
i think we may have just officially entered the Twilight Zone, The Outer Limits and Scare Tactics all at the same time.
